W2A Design Group is going to new heights in providing a building analysis for the historic St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Lansford PA! W2A’s work involves a multi-disciplinary study of the former St. Michael’s Slovak Church , originally constructed in 1908, to assess the existing physical & structural integrity, accessibility compliance and Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems.

County of Lehigh old Courthouse - Historical Preservation & Exterior Repainting
W2A Design Group assisted the County of Lehigh in their recent Historic Preservation project at the Old Courthouse located in downtown Allentown at 501 Hamilton Street. W2A Design Group provided bid documents for the exterior repainting of this historic Courthouse, and assisted with the coordination of hazardous materials abatement (existing lead-based paint and asbestos-containing glazing compound), as well as incidental repairs required to existing wood trim, cornice and bell tower components, and replacement of deteriorated glazing compound and broken window panes. The project is currently nearing completion, in time for Allentown's 250th anniversary celebration later this year!

Epic Church
The project is an 11,000 SF renovation of the former American Legion Building for a vibrant Community Center created to enlighten, stimulate, and engage the user into Christian worship, fellowship, and gathering. On the main floor, a multi-purpose Activity Center is provided. The lower level spaces are used for educational activities. An Integrated Project Delivery method was established to expedite the design and construction.

Public presentation of W2A’s design for the new East Side Fire Station for the City of Allentown
W2A Design Group is proud to have joined City officials last evening when the final design of the new East Side Fire Station was presented to the East Side Rittersville Neighborhood Association. Mayor Ed Pawlowski, Fire Chief Robert Scheirer, Richard Young, Director of Public Works, Don Hoegg, Facility Manager, Building Maintenance, and Joseph Davis, the East Side ’s newest City Councilman, were in attendance.
The group was overwhelmingly supportive of W2A Design Group's design, complimentary of its “traditional yet modern” style, adding that the building will be a great addition to their neighborhood.
Demolition of the existing building will be complete in June, and the construction project is anticipated to go out to public bid in July.
The display boards will be on display in the Fire Administration office.

W2A to design new East Side Fire Station for the City of Allentown PA

In the news – W2A Design Group is excited to announce that we have been selected by the City of Allentown PA to provide professional architectural services for the new East Side Fire Station!
The new state-of-the-art building will replace the existing 50+ year old East Side Fire Station on North Irving Street, and will provide three drive-through apparatus bays on the ground floor, and offices and living spaces on the second floor. Construction is anticipated to begin this summer, with occupancy planned for late 2012.

Construction Complete on Phase I of the Atlantic County NJ DPW Improvements
Northfield, NJ – Construction on the W2A designed New Truck Wash Facility for the Department of Public Works is complete! The new 5,500 SF Truck Wash Facility, new roofed road material bins and associated site improvements including new site entry gate, new site security fencing, new roadways, new parking areas and storm water detention basins are now complete and operational.
The 12,800 SF Crew Quarters, including shops, storage, offices and locker / toilet facilities, is in the final stages of construction, and is anticipated to be occupied this spring.
The overall project scope involved planning for 262 employees and 109 DPW Vehicles on a 17-acre site with multiple buildings. The entire site has been re-planned to include: some proposed building demolition; construction of an addition plus complete renovation of the existing Engineering, Planning and DPW administration building; a new vehicle maintenance garage; personnel support facilities; vehicle / equipment storage buildings; and revised site entries, drives and parking areas.

Construction Nearing Completion on W2A's current Adaptive Re-use project for Bucknell University
Construction is nearing completion on W2A's current adaptive reuse project for Bucknell University. The project involves renovations to the former United States Post Office and Federal Courthouse building in downtown Lewisburg PA. WIth over 32,000 SF, the project provides new space for the Development and Alumni Relations Department, with the Post Office continuing to provide public services on a portion of the first floor.
