Crayola recently designed a new facility incorporating Durat – a natural choice for the colorful company. Drawing on the extensive color offering from Durat, W2A Design customized the material to make it their own - using a white base and multi-color specks for their conference tables and reception counters. Color options for Durat are endless and the applications for Durat are bound only by the designer’s imagination. McCARTHY'S RED STAG PUB & WHISKEY BAR

BETHLEHEM HISTORICAL ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD

W2A Design Group is excited to be working with Neville Gardner, proprietor of Donegal Square, on facade renovations to McCarthy's Red Stag Pub and Whiskey Bar in historic downtown Bethlehem. The facade design, inspired by similar pubs in Ireland, will make McCarthy's THE place for a true Celtic experience in the Lehigh Valley!

THE LANDMARK 

Receives Allentown Planning Commission Approval 

Monday  The Landmark received approval from the City of Allentown Planning Commission, advancing what will be the Lehigh Valley's tallest building one step closer to reality.  

The design for the 33-story Landmark Tower, on the corner of 9th & Walnut Streets includes space on the first floor for retail stores, with office space on the second through twenty first floors, apartments on the twenty second through thirty third floors including five floors of penthouses, and a substantial attached parking deck.  

In addition to developing detailed design and construction documents, W2A will continue to assist developer Bruce Loch navigating the City approvals process, including obtaining two required zoning variances and ANIZDA funding.

W2A Moves "The Landmark" Design Forward...

On Tuesday January 13th W2A presented "The Landmark" to Allentown's Planning Commission.

The proposed 33-story multi-use building will be located at 9th & Walnut Streets.  At 420 feet The Landmark will be Pennsylvania's tallest building outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

LANDMARK TOWER IS BACK IN THE NEWS!

ALLENTOWN DEVELOPER BRUCE LOCH PLEDGES TO MOVE FORWARD WITH LANDMARK TOWER!

 On Wednesday evening Mr. Loch requested, and was unanimously granted by the Allentown Parking Authority, an extension for the sale of its lot at Ninth and Walnut Streets until November 6^th.  This will allow Mr. Loch time to identify a major tenant, so that he can then close on the property and proceed with Planning and Zoning approvals for the 33-story high-rise Tower.  Construction of the 130,000 square foot building could begin as early as March 2015, depending on the progress of tenant negotiations.

Roberto Clemente Charter School gets Allentown Zoning Board OK to expand

W2A Design Group is proud to assist the the Roberto Clemente Charter School, which currently serves grades 6-12 at 136 S. Fourth Street,  to expand their capabilities to also serve 320 elementary school students in the former Garfield Elementary School building located at  501-509 Cedar Street in Allentown.

Ribbon-cutting at New East Side Fire Station

W2A Design Group proudly joins Allentown officials and fire administration in the Ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opening the new East Side Fire Station! W2A Design Group designed the new East Side Fire Station for the City of Allentown, which involved the demolition of the existing 50+ year old 2-bay station, and replacing it with a new state-of-the-art facility on the same site. 

The new 8,000 square foot, two-story building is identifiable as a fire station, and is welcoming and accessible to all. The building has an approachable scale, and incorporates contextual, quality materials in a present-day interpretation of traditional building elements and detailing. 

As a career station, the building provides both public and non-public functions “24-7”, but organizes those functions into an understandable and spatially efficient layout. Three drive-through Engine Bays provide space for fire apparatus, and living quarters and work space on the second floor provide for a maximum of ten firefighters. Living quarters include separate male and female bunk rooms with private shower rooms, Kitchen, Day Room, Office and Exercise Room.

W2A & Officials Designing to bring State-of-the-art Regional Forensics Center to Northampton County

W2A has been working closely with Coroner Zachary Lysek, completing a study for a much-needed forensics center in Northampton County. Preliminary designs presented by W2A Design Group to supportive County officials provide a cutting edge / state-of-the-art facility that will address the needs of the County far into the future.

The design of the 23,770 S.F. center incorporates features such as specialized equipment and building systems, a large refrigerated area and private viewing area for families, as well as a secured enclosed drop-off area and large storage garage for Coroner’s vehicles, mobile lab equipment and space for crash investigations.

Space was designed to be flexible and adaptable. Special consideration was given to work flow process and space utilization / efficiencies. Future expansion has been accommodated in the facility organization.

Long-awaited New East Side Fire Station is now Rising Out of the Ground!

In little over a day’s time Allentown's new East Side Fire Station has started to take shape! Structural steel erection began on Wednesday, and is expected to be complete within a week. East Side residents, City officials and W2A are thrilled to see the progress of construction, which is scheduled for completion and occupancy by years’ end.

W2A Design Group recently provided professional architectural services to Habitat for Humanity, fitting out their new "ReStore" facility in Whitehall PA. The project is featured in the August issue of 'Lehigh Valley Style' magazine, on newsstands now! This new thrift store, appropriately housed in a renovated building, resells donated household items, with proceeds benefiting assistance programs and housing for Lehigh Valley residents in need.
